Grow yourself, not your Stuff

Minimalism has been a growing movement in the past few years. Everyone’s realizing the profound effect it can have on their life.

Consumerism is deeply ingrained in our memories. Our pliant desires for new technology has left us constantly wanting more. Some think it’s having a cataclysmic effect on the well being of our society, but I just think that it’s making people unhappy with their lives.

The goal of advertising it to make people feel like there’s something missing in their lives, and that the only way to feel “complete” is to buy their product. This is the driving factor of consumerism. What if we all recognized that we already are complete, we can feel fulfilled with the lives we’re already living.

What should we do once we recognize that we can be happy without buying new stuff?  We should use the energy, once devoted to the accumulation of material possessions, in growing ourselves. Let’s improve our lives instead of our amount of tangible items we own. Following are a list of ways to improve your life with your newly discovered time.
